Calisphere’s Themed Collections are now featured in edZone, a free resource provided to all California K-12 educators by the California K-12 High Speed Network.

EdZone is a comprehensive set of tools to support teaching and learning in California classrooms. EdZone currently includes blogging, videoconference scheduling and a file sharing system through which educators can upload or view videos, podcasts, images and documents. Calisphere, a service of the University of California powered by CDL, is a free public gateway to a world of primary sources. More than 150,000 digitized items - including photographs, documents, newspaper pages, political cartoons, works of art, diaries, transcribed oral histories, advertising, and other unique cultural artifacts - reveal the diverse history and culture of California and its role in national and world history. These primary sources have been collected into sets that support the California Content Standards in History-Social Sciences, English-Language Arts, and Visual Arts for use in K-12 classrooms.

K12HSN is a program that facilitates connectivity for K-12 entities throughout the state of California. In an effort to leverage the physical infrastructure, the program is seeking to establish key partnerships with high-quality content providers, as in the case of Calisphere. K12HSN will be uploading a sample of its partners’ best content to edZone. This collaborative effort will help California K-12 teachers discover the wealth of high-quality resources available to support teaching and learning.
