Brokers of Expertise: Team Recruitment
Friday, August 8th, 2008

The California Department of Education and their foundation partners, including Hewlett, James Irvine, and others, are moving forward with a plan to build and pilot a web-based pool of resources that are aligned to California content standards, easy to use, and positioned within communities of practitioners that support the use of the tools.

This project for meaningful progress in leveraging technology to close the achievement gap is known as Brokers of Expertise. The approach will be to identify existing resources and bring them together into a cohesive system. The K-12 High Speed Network has agreed to assist CDE in the implementation of its vision.

In order to undertake this work, the expertise of several K-12 leaders is needed.  The document that introduces our plan can be found here. Three Implementation Teams will be called on to plan the initiative’s work, reach decisions on technical matters, and vet the resources that are collected for possible inclusion in the content management system.  The teams are a Technical Team, a Content Team and a Pilot Team.

Because of the time commitment we are asking of the Implementation Team members and the likelihood of a limited amount of travel, a stipend is available for members of these teams.

The K12HSN is currently soliciting applications to serve on these visionary implementation teams. To the extent possible, these teams will include members representing K-12 entities with diverse populations and diverse needs.

Please review the
Brokers of Expertise Team Application and consider your possible role in the work.

Given our need to move from planning to action, the application period closes on August 29, 2008
