SO much going on at this site. I can't believe all the potential project resources and applications. The Commons area with all those sources of photos is a perfect resource for a couple research projects I am teaching right now. Kids can search by tag, and videos and pics can have up to 75 tags. This really expands the searchability. The only concern is that there are too many to dig through so the kids give up.
I found this pic http://www.flickr.com/photos/nationalmaritimemuseum/4127497129/
It is of Sir Walter Raleigh's house in the Blackwall area of London circa 1890. It is lovely and haunting at the same time. The house looks old and worn, but solid at the same time, like it has served people well for many years. Funny, but for me, the people in the pic are unnecessary. It's all about the house. It is its own living character with a complete life, just like a photo of a person.
This would be a great writing prompt. Choose a picture and tell the story. What details about that pic moved you to that story? Flag as inappropriate
