The Future - Career quilt

Time to start thinking about the future. Please go to the following website and complete the steps as listed. Take careful notes as you need them.

**If you don’t have access to a computer, please have your parents write a note, and I will give you access to my computers during school hours.

Go to the website:  http://www.cacareerzone.org

Do a quick assessment.

            Name your top 3 career choices.

Explore your top 3 careers. Write down for each:

            Job definition

            Name all skills you need to know

            What kind of education is needed?

            How much does it make?

Get a Reality Check

            Go to Occupation Direct

            Choose your favorite of the three careers and click on "How much can you purchase with this Monthly Income?"

            Find out the cost of everything.

            What are your monthly expenses?

            What is your remaining balance?

Next, you will be creating a quilt with five (5) components. The components need to be organized and contain the information as follows:

What is your remaining balance?

5. Practical Application

What do you need to do to achieve your career goal?

Is your career going to support you on a monthly basis? Why or why not?

If it doesn’t, what are some things that you can do?
