There are three simple tenses
Present: use the present principle part - the way the verb appears in a dictionary
for 3rd person singular add an "s" to the verb
Past: use the past principle part - add "d" or "ed" for regular verbs and memorize
irregular verbs
Future: use will or shall with present principle part
1st person - shall is statement of fact; will expresses determination
2nd and 3rd person - will is statement of fact; shall expresses determination
There are three perfect tenses: all perfect tenses use the past participle - a form of "have" with the d/ed or memorized form, the tense of the helping verb shows the tense
Present perfect: use
have or
has with the "d/ed" or memorized verb
Past perfect: use
had with the "d/ed" or memorized verb
Future perfect: use
will have or
shall have with the "d/ed" or memorized verb

Compound subjects
If the conjunction is "and," the verb used is plural
If the conjunction is "or / nor," use the subject closest to the verb to determine singular or plural
