What questions should you start asking before starting a netbook program for some or all of your student population?

1.       What resources do you want students to access on netbooks? What resources do you not want them to access?

2.       Will students need to access these resources on or off campus?

3.       If students are going to use netbooks extensively off campus, will they need to meet online with teachers or other students?

4.       What standards for student behavior will the district set in regard to netbook use on and off campus?

5.       Is there an existing platform to use as virtual classroom space? Are there spaces to discuss, create, and share among student groups?

6.       Will teachers have time to build the virtual space needed for these types of programs to have an impact on student learning? Can some of this happen at a district level?

7.       What type of tech support will be needed for students using these netbooks on campus and at home? Is there a student training program included by the netbook manufacturer?
