edZone Features
Monday, March 17th, 2008
We hit the ground running last week at CUE with the launch of edZone. As with most projects such as this features/enhancements are always happening. edZone is a very integrated suite of tools and since we have created them from the ground up, we have the flexibility to do a lot of great things with them, it is just a matter of time to get to them.
Having said that we have a lot of minor features which we will be adding which are related to useability of the site. I wanted to at least make you aware of some of the coming features that we have identified, that will be hitting edZone very soon.
- Creation of groups-we'll be giving you the ability to create groups and limit content to those groups.
- Personal Avatars-ability to have a personal avatar which will accompany the content you post.
- Personal Keywords-these keywords will be part of your profile, once logged-in you will have the ability to easily see edZone content filtered on those keywords.
- Albums-ability to put other people's content into an album that you have created.
- Ability to embed images and video from the respective edZone tools into your blog posts.
- Addition of other applications including Wikis, Social Networking & Messaging.
- Integration with MyTechDesk and K12video and a hosted implementation of Moodle.
- Student Accounts-the ability for students to have accounts.
As I mentioned, we have a lot of flexibility in what we can do with edZone, so if you have any suggestions for the site, please let us know.
That's my call and upon further review, the call stands!

Sunday, March 16th, 2008 @ 1:33 PMHello Alan,
Thanks for getting this built. I am on the CUE Board and was not aware of this tool. This is too bad as it illustates communications gap between the IT and ED side of the house. I think this tool will help merge that gap.

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008 @ 9:01 AMAlan, thanks so much to you and everyone involved in this project, it will be an awesome tool for educators across the state. We've talked here in Shasta County about putting up a site like this for our county, but you saved us all the work! We'll do our best to get the word out.
