You may have perused the edZone site and have seen there are places for "Featured" media on the home pages of the individual applications such as videos, podcasts, documents and images. Here is a screen shot collage of what I am talking about:

So you may be asking yourself "How does my media become selected to be a featured media?" The answer is it's all in the rating. Each piece of content that is uploaded to these applications can be rated by members of the K-12 trusted community.

When the content has an average of a 3-star rating or more it becomes part of the eligible pool of media. The site will randomly chose which content it will display from this pool of eligible content. You have the ability to rate content once. When you are logged into edZone you can hover over the number of stars you feel the content should have. The number you rate is calculated with the others who have rated for an average rating. If the average rating is a minumum of 3, then it is eligible to be in the featured section.

The above sample rating shows that I rated the piece of content a 4, and the stars on the right show the aggregate score for the content. This has only been rated once and has an average rating of 4. As more and more people rate the content the overall average would change appropriately.

So if you want to have content in the featured section, upload some content and then let your fellow edZone compadres know about it and ask them to vote for you content!

That's my call and upon further review, the call stands!
