Budget Impasse
Monday, August 11th, 2008
The truth is unless you are a member of the California state
government, you and I are interested spectators. We elect legislators
and executives to make and enact the laws of the state, and the most
effective recourse we have to address poor performance is to vote them
out of office. This is the essence and the weakness of a
representative republic.
Your local paper can keep you up to date with all of the day to day comings and goings, whether or not state workers who haven't already been laid off will have the pay temporarily docked back to minimum wage, whether or not there will be tax increases, how the Democrats and Republicans are getting along, etc. So here are a few non-partisan, entirely factual web pages that will help
you track changes to the state budget and the Calif. Tech. Asst. Project funding portion of
it, known as SB1637.
Hope this helps keep you informed.
