Choosing Well: Technology in Curriculum

After my entry titled "Drooling," I wrote up a purchase order for a couple of books and a Pulse Pen.  But the lack of a state budget held up my purchase order.

...And then it held up pretty much everything else.  It's safe to say that lack of incoming funding will kill any technological innovation in California schools.  At some point,"Amish Technology" may not just be a clever title that indicates a philosophy of technology adoption.

In the meantime, I've been helping to implement a new attendance database for our county operated school programs and creating a technology class calendar as if we actually had CTAP funding.  All of our classes will run if we have enough enrollment, but I've been forced to make sure that each class has enough enrollment to fully cover the cost of hiring the teacher.

At 4pm today (a little under an hour ago, as I write this) both house of California's legislature are scheduled to vote on  a compromise budget.  I hope they pass it, I've got some stuff to buy.
