Weathering the Storm

Not much on the new technology front these days. The CA state budget pretty much killed anything new I had going on. Those are the breaks when you work in a small county office of education.
So here's some of what I've been doing lately:
- Using our new SIS database to prepare for the CSIS Annual SSID Maintenance submission. We have purchased PROMIS (http://www.mypromis.org) from San Joaquin COE's CEDR division.
- Keeping an eye on cool stuff for our county teachers. I recently found Wired.com's wiki site and read through "How to Take Microphotographs". I'll be sharing it with my county tech advisory group this afternoon.
- Maintaining our computer lab. 15 iMacs (Intel Core 2 Duo) running OS X 10.5 and Windows XP (SP3) through Parallels. We host webcasts, web conferences, and technology classes in that room. Keeping the OS updates on two OSs takes at least a couple of hours a week. (Apple is getting as bad as Microsoft with the constant updates!) ;)
Hope your school year is going well.
(and yes, I will post about the LiveScribe PulsePen as soon as I get my hasnds on one!)
Best,
Daniel

We also purchased PROMIS for attendance reporting. I only know of a few COEs that purchased the system. Which one are you at?
