Well folks,
This will be my last post to Amish Technology, at least for a while.  The Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools is suffering drastic budget issues, and the Superintendent has decided that my position needs to be eliminated.  I've had the wrap-up conversations with my boss, and I'll passing my responsibilities to colleagues as I prepare for an exit my position.

I can't say that I would turn down any job offers, but I am seriously considering leaving the field entirely.  I dream of two other careers. 1) Teaching History (my degree is in History) full time at a community college here in CA. 2) Making a living as a musician.  Perhaps this is why I am so suspect of the "latest and greatest" tech to come down the pike.

If there was one thing I would hope that you would take away from Amish Technology, it would be a healthy skepticism of technology in the classroom for its own sake.  Make sure that whatever you use or promote helps you and your district achieve their goals.   Avoid technology that does not help, but don't write anything off.  Twitter looks like it has possibilities for engaging students in discussions, a possibility I had not considered for a website that at first and second glances seemed inappropriate for classroom use.

Until we meet again,
Daniel
