Importing Requestors
Monday, June 2nd, 2008

To import requestors into MyTechDesk, create a comma-separated values (CSV) file with the following columns in this specific order:
Spacing
Username, Password, First Name, Last Name, E-mail Address, Telephone, Extension

Example:
tjones, 123abc, Tom, Jones, tjones@school.k12.ca.us, (760) 312-5555, 123
rsmith, 789bcd, Robert, Smith, rsmith@school.k12.ca.us, (760) 312-5555, 150

Username requirements: Usernames begin with a letter, must be no longer than 16 characters long and only lowercase letters (a-z), numbers (0-9), the underscore(_), and no space.

Password requirements: Passwords must be at least 5 characters long and no longer than 16, may contain numbers 90-90 and upper and lowercase letters (A-Z, a-z), but no space.

Once you have the csv file ready,
  • Go to Options
  • Under Group Settings, click Manage Group Account
  • Select Requestors
  • Click Import requestors
  • Copy and paste your list of requestors, one
requestor per line, into the textbox
  • Press Continue.
  • Import Requestors

Once you submit your CSV file, you will be asked to verify the requestor details you submitted.

Note that any highlighted fields (invalid, duplicate) will prevent a requestor from being imported.
You will need to correct the data then verify it by clicking on the Update button.

Here for example the orange highlighted field indicates that the password is invalid.
    This password is too short.
    Invalid Entry

Please note that duplicates in your CSV list will not automatically be filtered out.
MyTechDesk will only highlight entries that already exist in the system.
If a specific username is already used, MyTechDesk will notify you by highlighting that entry in blue.

In the example below, the blue highlighted field indicates that this username is already used.
There is already an account with that username.
    Duplicate

SpacingYou will need to correct the data and fix any issues before proceeding with the import.
Once the data is corrected, click Update to validate the new entries.

You may also optionally assign a Location to each requestor using the drop-down list.

    Select location

Again, click Update to validate these selections.

When you are ready to import your requestors, proceed by clicking on the Import button.

    Verify Requestor Import

It is easy to look up a requestor in the requestor page.
If you need to edit a requestor account, or find out if a teacher already has a requestor account, type his/her name in the Find requestor box. You may also filter requestors by location.

Thanks for this! I have a related question on managing requestors. Is it possible to mass delete all of the requestors so that I may reimport them?

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, the option to mass delete requestors is not available at this point.

Is it possible to mass update. I didn't assign a location to a number of Requestors, and when I tried to re-import to update, it says it was successful but doesn't show a change.
