Yahoo for teachers
Monday, March 10th, 2008

Looks like Yahoo! is getting ready to launch a web portal for teachers at http://teachers.yahoo.com/

At first glance, it seemed like some other educator portal sites I’ve come across, with the ability to store and share websites, photos, lessons and worksheets. However, since there aren’t any guidelines or much moderation at these sites, the quality of lessons varies greatly. The Yahoo site looks like they may be emphasizing the social networking aspect, with the ability for teachers to easily share information, talk in forums, and easily copy other lessons to their own portfolios!

Some good features talked about in the video tour are the Gobbler (the ability to drag and drop content into a sidebar to update your page) and having the ability to link to the built-in standards.

Looks like it will open sometime this fall soon. I’ll keep you updated!
