Thoughts on how to use social networking and web 2.0 tools for building content repositories

Types of content

Here are some current examples of content that teachers and students are creating or selecting from outside sources. Can we build a searchable repository for these?  While I was considering building my own "YouTube" for all these kinds of content, I just found out about EdZone.  If EdZone can evolve, it could be an incredibly powerful tool.  Imagine if we had school-, district-, regional and global networks of educator-reviewed content...

  • Webquests
  • Pathfinders
  • Lesson plans
  • Quizzes, problem sets, etc.
  • Teacher newsletters
  • Classroom podcasts
  • Keynote presentations
  • Teacher- and student-created movies
  • Custom Google Maps and Google Earth
  • Discovery Ed videos
  • Calisphere resources
  • Voicethread presentations
  • Blog posts, forums, wiki pages and discussion threads
And if it linked to Twitter, Ning and other social networks...
