CENIC: During the month of April, CENIC continued to work with the K-12 segment and telecommunications service providers on preparing for an upgrade of a significant number of SONET circuits to Gigabit connections.
CENIC is pleased to announce the completion of several large ongoing projects to better serve the K-12 node sites, the connection points to the CalREN backbone, and ultimately the entire K-12 community.
The new routers for 57 K-12 Node Sites have arrived at CENIC and are being deployed. The CENIC NOC will work with Node Site staff members to configure and test the new equipment.
The K12HSN program has authorized CENIC to procure new routers for each of the K-12 node sites currently serving California's K-12 districts and schools with Cisco 7500 series routers.
After weeks of waiting, we have learned that the $1.9M in one-time funds needed to fund Year 1 of the Technology Refresh Plan survived the conference committee process and remain part of the budget being sent back to the Governor. |
