Guidelines for Submission
After the submission deadline, all project applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts identified by the Orange County Department of Education. Reviewers may include, but are not limited to: OCDE technology specialists, district technology coordinators, business and community partners, and OCDE consultants.
All fields on the application form must be completed in order to be considered. The application will be scored based on the Application Evaluation Rubric.
Each reviewer will score each application independently. If the scores given by the reviewers have a difference of five points or less, a verbal discussion will take place between the reviewers. Once concensus is reached, applications receiving the highest scores will be eligible for onsite visits and final project selection.
Selected applicants will allow the OCDE Media Team to be on-site to video and document the project's work in progress as determined by OCDE.
The project team is responsible for transportation to and from the "Dress Rehearsal" at OCDE, the Student Technology Showcase at Newport Coast Elementary and any other venues or sites associated with participation in the Orange County Student Technology Showcase. The team leader is responsible for obtaining travel permission from parents/guardians for all student participants.
Selected project teams are required to attend a "Dress Rehearsal" on January 9, 2009 at OCDE in Building A. The review panel will again use the Application Evaluation Rubric to judge the quality of the project presentations.
The "Dress Rehearsal" will have two objectives. First, the student teams will have an opportunity to practice for an audience prior to the Orange County Student Technology Showcase at OC CUE on January 24, 2009. Second, the review panel will choose three or four exceptional projects to be showcased during the CUE Statewide Student Technology Showcase on March 7, 2009.
