HOW TO UPLOAD Successfully
While it's not difficult, uploading your film has a couple of wrinkles that you should know about. If you will read these steps, the process will be stress-free.
#1 Set up your teacher K12HSN account NOW - use a school email for near instant access.
You will need an account to upload, and waiting for a confirmation email @ 11:47 PM on the last day is NO fun. If you use GMAIL, hotmail, etc, your account will take more time to confirm. One account will do for ALL your videos.
#2 Compress your video correctly - if you send us a 320 x 240 video (too small), that's what we'll judge.
Watch the Compression video on the Submission page, the ideal specs are: MP4 AVC, Less than 200mb, DV/DVCAM = 720 x 480, Analog = 640 x 480, 75% compression and two pass quality.
Go to www.squared5.com for the free software (Mac and PC)
#3 Have a JPEG still from the film ready BEFORE you upload - it's REQUIRED and will cause your upload to fail if not present .
#4 Know your data - student's names, etc before you start. We suggest printing the blank form and having the students pre-fill them.
To prevent your upload from getting "rejected" - fill in all the boxes, at least with n/a
If your students made origianl music or have secured rights to commercial music or are using commercial royalty free music (Freeplay, Soundzabound) it's worthwhile to note that in the Description of the Film box
If you feel it's relevant, please include the following items in your message:
- Description of your problem
- Computer's operating system (OS)
- Windows Media Player version
- Web browser version/type
- Connection type: LAN, DSL, Cable, or dial-up
