FCC Form 471 Deadline May 11, 2017
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Form 471 for the 2017–18 Funding Year deadline is Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 8:59 p.m. (PST). Applications certified after this date are unlikely to be considered for funding.

CALNET 3 Updates
The California Department of Technology recently completed a “refresh” of the CALNET 3 state master contract part B Sections 3 and 5. The services covered under these sections of CALNET 3 include:
- Section 3: Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
- Section 5: Managed Internet Services
The “refresh” was done in conjunction with the posting of a new FCC Form 470 that all local education agencies (LEAs) are free to use. The FCC Form 470 number is 160046640 and only applies to the above referenced sections of the contract.
Important E-rate details associated with the bidding process are:
- Contract Award Date (CAD): April 12, 2017
- Contract Expiration Date (CED): June 30, 2018
- Number of Voluntary Extensions: 3
- Total months remaining on contract if all voluntary extensions were executed (from July 1, 2017): 48
LEAs that choose to use the California Department of Technology’s FCC Form 470 may also need to conduct a “mini-bid” to determine the most cost effective provider for that LEA.
