FCC Establishes Emergency Connectivity Fund
In March 2021, the FCC announced the inception of the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF), a $7.171 billion program authorized by Congress as part of the American Rescue Plan, which will enable schools to purchase internet service and laptops or tablets to connect students and school staff that lack adequate broadband access necessary to support remote learning.
